Joan Bonet Nadal about himself I have always felt more as someone from Manacor, while being most satisfied with my bond to Santanyí, which gave me my name: I am Joan Bonet Escalas Torrelles’ grandson, he had been a republican mayor in Santanyí . All my grandmothers and grandfathers, uncles and aunts, cousins and other relatives have originally been from Manacor or Santanyí. My grandfather Torelles had only been mayor for a short period of time, but my grandmother kept being called “the mayor’s wife” all her life.
