Santanyí magazine 117 ··· Sa Cova has seen the transformation in the lives of many people who have discovered this place by chance. Me first of all. Without doubt many of you know the story of the “famous dice“ which has changed my life from the ground up.Let me mention that my life took an utterly new direction when I found a dice in the Cala del Puerto de Andratx the 23rd July in 1995. The “girl of the dice” – Nadja – had a dream: she wanted to live in Mallorca and open a pub with artworks and live music. Nadja already knew Santanyí and particularly Sa Cova. And I only wanted to be with her. That’s how the the magic started… Which boy or girl doesn’t want to be a musician after having listened to the best groups of the Island?Who hasn’t fallen in love with the cosy get-together on the terrace of Sa Cova? Who hasn’t enjoyed the marvellous atmosphere of Sa Cova, which provides a space full of gaiety and culture, offering exhibitions and concerts all year long? The last person I have met thanks to Sa Cova, comes from Mexico, a woman called Cynthia. She only passed by Sa Cova to drive her child to school. But one day she saw a signboard where I had written: “I am fed up. Things stolen from Sa Cova: a guitar, a camera, artworks, plants and much more.” The idea to write this list came to me in order to release my rage. As a result two days later a car stopped by and the driver said to me: “Juan, I am so sorry. Three years ago I stole this wicky chair from your bar. Now I want to beg your pardon and that’s why I return it to you.” I was so happy about this reaction that I couldn’t be angry at the boy. I just put another sign on the chair with the words: “This chair had been stolen three years ago and restored two days ago.” Cynthia was so pleasantly surprised, that she asked me, if she could take a photo of the chair. Thanks to this anecdote, today she belongs to our team at Sa Cova and is responsible for the culture events. There are many stories like this I could tell.
