Born in Villapalacios, Albacete, Isidro Losa Garrido has been living in Santanyí since 1952. He collects antiques, comics, motorbikes, cars – in short: “Everything with the smell of ancient and iron wakes my passion”, he says with gleaming eyes. He learnt to read with the Spanish comic series “El CruzadoNegro” and remembers the story of every single car he has recovered and restored, even if he had to dig it out of the ditch or to travel round half the world. In collaboration with the municipal council of Santanyí he organises every year the exhibition of antique cars in the marketplace of Santanyí to celebrate the festivities of “San Jaume”. These vehicles have become items of incalculable historic value and continue to play a leading roll in countless social events. Bridal couples drive in them to the altar, promotional campaigns make use of them again and again and even the Three Kings of the East draw on these cars when they come with their pages to Santanyí. With unconditional dedication and shared efforts he and his brother José have transformed this “cluster of sheet” - how he tenderly calls his cars – into a collection of about sixty jewels of the bygone century. He is member of the Royal Automobile Association of Valencia, the Club for antique cars of Mallorca, the Veteran Car, Club 850 and Spanish Spider.
