158 magazine S LVA The beginnings of the firm of Kollflex date back to the year 1927, when Lorenzo Coll Sampol started making shoes in a small workshop in the municipality of Selva. At the time, nobody could have imagined that it would be the start of a business dynasty that is now in its third generation. Lorenzo Coll established the basis for making top quality shoes that has lasted throughout 75 years of manufacture: a good last; the best and most malleable leather; and meticulous devotion to each and every step of production. When the founder’s sons Lorenzo and José Coll Vallori joined the firm, they started to modernise the factory. During the last thirty years, José Coll has lead the development and growth of the family business, in Selva where Kollflex has always been located. This is the story of a family of shoemakers and of a business, Kollflex, but it also forms part of thehistory of Selva, as, in the 75 years of shoe production, more than a hundred families have been employed in the factory. Certainly the majority of Selva inhabitants will have someone in their family who feels a part of this great venture. Nowadays Pep and his brother Jaime Coll Alomar carry on the work in the Kollflex shop, selling high quality shoes and leather accessories. Today, the third generation are looking ahead to the future.
